Just when the south film industry was about to witness an interesting clash of Kollywood with Bollywood as Toxic was locking horns with Dhurandhar in this month, the release postponement of Yashs film has disappointed the fans.

Toxic production house confirmed that Toxic would not release on March 19, 2026, as originally planned. Instead, the team is now targeting June 4, 2026 which was a move influenced by the current situation in Middle Eastern countries.

The postponement upset many fans. Yet, for the makers of the Vijays Jana Nayagan, this newly vacated window might work to their advantage.

Toxic shift influences strategy for Vijay’s Jana Nayagan

Earlier, reports suggested that the Thalapathy Vijay starrer directed by H Vinoth might be scheduled for June 18, 2026. But producers are not keen on releasing Vijay’s film just two weeks after Yash’s Toxic.

A report by the Valai Pechu YouTube channel stated that the Jana Nayagan team expects the newly revised censor board committee to complete the film’s review and issue certification by March 17, 2026. If the process moves as planned, the film may arrive sooner than anticipated.

Election timeline may shape the film’s theatrical plan Sources indicate that if the censor approval comes through on time, Jana Nayagan could be released exactly a week after the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly elections. Although dates are not yet announced, the elections are expected to take place in the third week of April 2026. If that timeline holds, Vijay’s film could hit screens by late April or early May.

Conflicting reports suggest June 18 still under consideration Meanwhile, several reports from outlets including NT News and Eenadu claim that the producers may still be leaning toward a June release. Since June 22 marks Vijay’s birthday, reports say there is strong commercial appeal in releasing the film on June 18, allowing celebrations to run through the weekend.

However, sources insist that internal discussions are still ongoing. An official announcement is yet to be made.

Jana Nayagan brings together a strong ensemble. Thalapathy Vijay leads the film, with Pooja Hegde playing the female lead, while Bobby Deol appears as the antagonist. The Premalu star Mamitha Baiju also plays a crucial role in this Vijay film.
