Amid law and order concerns in poll-going West Bengal, the Election Commission of India (ECI) is set to deploy a record 2.4 lakh Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) personnel in the state.
The decision was taken amid heightened concerns over security and the poll bodys focus on ensuring fair and violence-free polling.
According to officials, the Commission has also put in place a detailed post-poll security plan. The ECI on Friday decided to continue deployment of 500 companies of central forces in the state even after counting of votes on May 4, PTI reported.
One company comprises 90 to 125 personnel.
