PRAYAGRAJ: The 22nd instalment of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi — a scheme implemented for the benefit of small and marginal farmers— was directly credited to the accounts of over 5 lakh farmers in the district on Friday.
The instalment was released nationally by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Assam.
A live telecast of the event was screened for beneficiaries at the Sangam Auditorium in the district.
Deputy director (agriculture), Pawan Kumar Vishwakarma, said: As many as 5,81,022 farmers in the district received the benefits. A sum of Rs 170.66 crore was transferred directly into their accounts.
Across Uttar Pradesh, 2.15 crore farmers received Rs 4,335.11 crore as part of the latest instalment.
Under this scheme, the financial aid is transferred directly into the beneficiarys account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). The scheme is designed to provide financial assistance of Rs 6,000 per annum—distributed in 3 equal instalments—to one eligible member of a farming family.
The support helps farmers meet agricultural expenses such as seeds, fertilisers, pesticides and other farming inputs. The assistance also contributes to meeting household needs including education and healthcare.
