50th Imam of Ismaili community Prince Rahim Aga Khan V arrives in New Delhi on maiden visit to India

Prince Rahim Aga Khan V, the 50th hereditary Imam of the Ismaili Muslim Community and Chair of the Aga Khan Development Network, has arrived in New Delhi on his maiden visit to India. He was welcomed by an Indian delegation on his arrival.

The Ministry of External Affairs extended a warm welcome to Prince Rahim Aga Khan V, saying that the visit will provide an opportunity to review ongoing cooperation with the Aga Khan Development Network in social development and heritage preservation and explore collaboration on development and community initiatives.

Prince Rahim Aga Khan is visiting India until the 15th of this month at the invitation of Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan. He will hold talks with the Vice President today. During his stay in New Delhi, the Aga Khan will also call on President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He will also meet Home Minister Amit Shah and External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar.

The External Affairs Ministry said, as part of the visit, the dignitary is also slated to travel to Ahmedabad, Mumbai, and Hyderabad, where the Aga Khan Development Network is involved in various development and community initiatives. This is the first visit of Prince Rahim Aga Khan V to India since his accession as the 50th Imam of the Ismaili community.
