Nivin Pauly starrer ‘Baby Girl’ has hit the big screens today, January 23. Directed by Arun Varma, ‘Baby Girl’ has opened to packed theatres, especially given that Nivin Pauly’s recent release ‘Sarvam Maya’ was a blockbuster hit. ‘Baby Girl’ is scripted by Bobby-Sanjay, known for their previous films including ‘Traffic’, ‘Ayalum Njanum Thammil’, ‘Mumbai Police’, ‘How Old Are You?’, ‘Uyare’, and ‘Kaanekkaane’. The Nivin Pauly starrer revolves around the disappearance of an infant. The film has an ensemble cast of Lijomol, Sangeeth Prathap, Abhimanyu Thilakan, Aditi Ravi, Azees Nedumangad, and Aswanth Lal. The trailer of the film had grabbed eyeballs, and the first day footfall was high. But did the Malayalam thriller manage to entertain the audience? Social media platforms are flooded with reviews from cinephiles who managed to watch the film on the first day. Take a look. Netizens share their review of ‘Baby Girl’

An X (formerly Twitter) user called ‘Baby Girl’ a ‘watchable thriller’. “Went in with no expectations and ended up finding #BabyGirl a watchable thriller,” the netizen wrote. The X user praised Lijomol Jose’s performance. “Lijomol Jose delivers an excellent performance and truly stands out, while Sangeeth Pradap handles his role neatly. Nivin Pauly’s presence feels unnecessary to the overall narrative. The making could have been sharper, but the nearly two-hour runtime actually works in the film’s favor.”

Another netizen said, the emotions in the film didn’t work. “A Tale of search for a missing baby girl. Nivin Pauly in an extended guest role. Weak, outdated script by Bobby Sanjay, nothing new. Old-fashioned making doesnt help. Mediocre performances by all. Emotions didnt work out. Flop loading, skip this one,” wrote another.

A third X (previously Twitter) user found the film engaging and said that ‘Baby Girl’ is a must-watch. “#BabyGirl is a gripping, edge-of-the-seat thriller that unfolds within a single day. Nivin Pauly delivers one of his most restrained performances in recent years. Must watch.”

Another netizen lauded the director, and called it an ‘excellent thriller’. “Excellent Thriller. Director Arun Varma once again executed a well made thriller. Superb performace from Lijo Mol. Very good acting from Nivin Pauly. Overall a good thriller with gripping movements and no lag.”

Many movie goers have noted that Nivin Pauly was spot-on in the film. “Nivin Pauly delivers one of his most restrained performances in recent years. No overacting, no heroism — just pure character work. That alone makes #BabyGirl worth watching,” wrote one X user, and said the film is a ‘must-watch’.

Another cinephile said the film delivered more than they expected. “#BabyGirl hits harder than expected. Not loud. Not flashy. Just honest, tense, and emotionally heavy storytelling. Nivin Pauly carries the film with quiet intensity. This one stays in your head after the show ends,” the post on X reads.

One X (Twitter) user said that though the film has no big twists, it was a decent watch. “Do not expect a shocking or big twist. Nivin Pauly was good, but Sangeeth Prathap and Lijomols performance was superb. Sam CS music is elevated movie very well. Duration is another positive,” the tweet read.

‘Baby Girl’ is now running in cinemas.
