Sunny Deol starred Border 2 also starring Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty has now released in theatres. Since the last one and a half month, it was only Dhurandhar which was dominating at the box office. But now, with the release of Border 2, the Ranveer Singh starrer saw a decline in its seventh week, and the run has been commendable. But the advance bookings of Border 2 started on a grand note, largely owing to how iconic the first part has been. Border 2 has a wide release worldwide in across 4500 screens and there are huge expectations attached as its also a solo release amidst the upcoming long weekend with Republic Day around the corner.
As per Sacnilk, the advance booking trends suggest a strong opening for ‘Border 2’ at the domestic box office. The film has already locked in an All-India gross of Rs 12.5 crore for day one, backed by the sale of 4,09,117 tickets across 16,221 shows nationwide. The Hindi 2D version is leading the charge, contributing nearly Rs 12.45 crore on its own. Once blocked seats are factored in, the overall advance booking total climbs to Rs 17.5 crore.
Now on the opening day, the film has made Rs 11.07 crore so far till afternoon.
Trade experts are calling the release timing a strategic win. Hitting cinemas this Friday, the film is set to capitalise on the extended four-day Republic Day holiday window. Early projections indicate that the opening day numbers could push close to the Rs 35 crore mark, while the cumulative haul over the long weekend is expected to comfortably cross Rs 125 crore. With such a powerful start on the cards, Border 2 is shaping up to be more than just a hit sequel, potentially placing itself among the biggest earners in the history of Indian cinema.
Meanwhile, Dhurnadhar has now crossed Rs 830 crore. With Border 2 taking over the screens across the country and worldwide, on Friday, day 50, the film has just made Rs 1 lakh so far in the morning.
