The JDU (Janata Dal United) has released its first list for the Bihar Assembly elections, announcing the names of 57 candidates.

According to JDU’s strategy, the party has distributed tickets keeping social balance and regional equations in mind.

Some of the names on the list are:

Alamnagar: Narendra Narayan Yadav

Mokama: Anant Singh

Nalanda: Shravan Kumar

Khagaria: Bablu Mandal

Samastipur: Ashwamegh Devi

Vaishali: Siddharth Patel

Koti: Ajit Kumar

Darbhanga rural: Ishwar Mandal

Madhepura: Kavita Saha

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on Sunday finalised the seat-sharing arrangement within its constituents for the upcoming Bihar Legislative Assembly elections.

As per the deal for the 243-member assembly, the BJP and the JD(U) will contest on 101 seats each. Chirag Paswan’s LJP (Ramvilas) got a big slice, with a share of 29 seats. Upendra Kushwaha’s RLM and Jitan Ram Manjhi’s HAM got a share of six seats each. For the first time in Bihar’s electoral history, the BJP and JD(U) will contest an equal number of seats — 101 each— in the upcoming 2025 Assembly elections. This marks a major shift in the state’s political equation, as Nitish Kumar’s party has traditionally contested a larger share whenever the two parties have been in alliance.

The BJP has announced its first list of 71 candidates. Springing surprises, it denied a ticket to Speaker Nand Kishore Yadav, a seven-term MLA, while fielding Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary in a direct election after over a decade. Health and Law Minister Mangal Pandey, a member of the legislative council, has also been fielded by the party for the assembly polls.
